Two years of "planning" and the great elk expedition is finally here. While hubs packed up everything I made a big batch of chili for them to have one day. I was definitely not paying close enough attention as all of these things were purchased and hidden throughout our house over the last 2 years! When I finished cooking and saw the pile of stuff "ready to go" I knew immediately I had been lied to and this expedition was costing WAY more money than I was led to believe.
It's finally fall
I'm happy to report that the weather has officially crossed my requirement for fall; it hasn't gotten above 90 degrees in over 48 hours! Yes it is still over 80. Yes it still feels like summer by the afternoon. But when you wake up at 5 am you don't melt as soon as you walk outside! We shall see how long it lasts, but for now we are loving playing outside without the threat of heat exhaustion!
October Heat
While the rest of the country is enjoying this magical thing called fall where the leaves change, I'm over here still sweating in the 95+ degree heat and humidity. Every morning this week I got up ready to put on the cutest fall outfit only to take the fur baby out and put on another basic airy top since it's too hot for anything else. Friday traffic leaving the city was worse than usual so it meant the hubs and I got home basically at the same time. Poor fur baby didn't get his usual 30-40 minutes of undivided attention and play so he was a bit needy until I relocated to a location he approved.
Hurricane Nate
Last weekend we were in the direct projected path of Hurricane Nate. Hubs got off work early to "prepare" for his first hurricane at home since he moved to the south. As I pulled into our neighborhood Friday afternoon I saw zero out of the ordinary and the neighbor across the street casually outside washing his car. Then I saw the back of our house. Hubs had been busy putting up the storm shutters prepping our house for what someone could only assume was a zombie apocalypse. He was just so proud of himself I didn't have the heart to tell him it wasn't supposed to bad enough for that. I put on some shorts and helped my favorite overachiever finish putting up the storm shutters. Yes we were the only crazy people in the neighborhood doing any sort of preparation, other than loading up the icechest with beer. Once we were sufficiently prepared for a zombie apocalypse we decided to go out to eat incase we were stuck inside for the rest of the weekend.
One day,
The Matchmaker
In March of 2015 we each went to the second birthday party for Lavinnia, the daughter of a John Deere co-worker (my old job / the Mr.'s new job). Unknowingly, we were both invited as a setup by her parents. The setup worked. By the time Lavinnia's next birthday rolled around we were engaged and wedding planning with our flower girl. Well we recently celebrated another birthday for Lavinnia but this time as Mr. and Mrs.
