While the rest of the country is enjoying this magical thing called fall where the leaves change, I'm over here still sweating in the 95+ degree heat and humidity. Every morning this week I got up ready to put on the cutest fall outfit only to take the fur baby out and put on another basic airy top since it's too hot for anything else. Friday traffic leaving the city was worse than usual so it meant the hubs and I got home basically at the same time. Poor fur baby didn't get his usual 30-40 minutes of undivided attention and play so he was a bit needy until I relocated to a location he approved.
As you can tell from the pictures we had a very eventful Friday night with the 2 hour premier of Gold Rush followed by Blue Bloods. We should have been social and gotten out to the parish festival but... well you see we spent a ton of money in July for a new bought air system in our house so I need to get our money's worth. Who am I kidding, I don't really have much of an excuse for not joining in the fun other than I'm old and my sweatpants were calling my name.
After some Saturday morning chores and grass cutting (because it's still super hot and growing like crazy) we headed to Baton Rouge for the gold game versus Auburn. Did I mention it's still hot?! If not, let me tell you it's still like the middle of summer here. Sitting outside at the game is like sitting on the surface of the sun. (Dear TV networks: I really dislike day games, actually we all do. It was the theme of Saturday. Tigers in Death Valley at night. PERIOD. Get with the program and stop putting us on your programming lineup during the day.) I managed to get a solid tan line and a lovely surnburnt nose. That said it was the most wonderful weekend of football! LSU comeback win AND Saints victory. Two REALLY good games in one weekend is what makes me sit and watch football every weekend. Alright it could have been a perfect football weekend if my fantasy team had matched up against any other team and gotten a win, but we can't win them all.
Sunday morning I enjoyed breakfast in my booth while watching the blue heron that seems to have made a home in our area. I think he needs a name and we need to figure out what snacks he likes so he will stay around. Suggestions?
After glancing over, I started reading the supply checklist for hubs rapidly approaching elk hunting trip to Colorado. The guys have been planning this hunting trip since literally a week after we met. They had their first "planning meeting" the same night we already had plans to go bowling with my good friend Audrey & her husband Chad. He missed the "planning meeting" to meet my friends but he has been pretty adamant since then that he needed to attend the other "meetings" to make sure he knew what was going on. I have no idea what these fools have been planning for over 2 years because this list didn't include what I would consider survival necessities for camping out for 10 days in Colorado. In all seriousness, the wedding day emergency kit my sister assembled for me had more survival necessities than this list! They are planning on hiking 7-10 miles every day from the camp ground to their hunting spots and didn't put Dr. Sholes insoles, blister pads, or new skin on the list. If there is a bug within 10 miles it's going to find hubs, he didn't have Benadryl! After that the majority of the day was spent running errands to gather up my version of survival necessities while the Mr. hunted & sighted in his gun. I'm calling it now, I'm going to take home the wife of the year award when the first one in the group gets chaffing and needs to use Boudreaux's Butt Paste & Anti-Monkey Butt. Jackson was a complete waste of space all day and provided zero assistance to this elk hunt expedition prep.
Once we got that squared away we started a batch of hot wings for dinner and finished up a couple daily inspiration projects I've had in the back of my head for a while.
I really needed to take a step away from everything to unwind by myself. I feel much better and ready to get after another week.
XOXO
The Mr. & Amanda
