Two years of "planning" and the great elk expedition is finally here. While hubs packed up everything I made a big batch of chili for them to have one day. I was definitely not paying close enough attention as all of these things were purchased and hidden throughout our house over the last 2 years! When I finished cooking and saw the pile of stuff "ready to go" I knew immediately I had been lied to and this expedition was costing WAY more money than I was led to believe.
Why in the world do you need 4 different brands and sizes of ice chests?! And hubs has the nerve to call me a hoarder! Pot calling the kettle black here mister! It's like a sporting goods store advertisement in our garage.
Our smallest ice chest is the most portable and versatile we offer, made by RTIC with multiple carrying straps and a beer bottle opener attached! Our medium sizes are manufactured by Coleman and Igloo to cover your everyday needs. The largest ice chest available is perfect for use when you will need a backhoe to help lift it, manufactured by Yeti with a custom decal made by amazing wifey for this expedition.
I'm so confused why we had to buy this special pair of boots specifically for this type of hunt/hike expedition and then I see THREE different boots sitting there. The next time he calls me a hoarder and says I don't use what I have I'm going to send him to live in the shed with of all his hoarded sporting goods so he can put his money where his mouth is.
My main concern is the chair. I walked into the garage and the chair was opened up sitting exactly like that. Did he finish packing and need a recliner to marvel at the number of lies he was able to convince me of over the last 2 years? Did he want to take a nap with all of it? Did he feel the need to guard it from marauders? It wasn't for inspection purposes to ensure he had everything, they didn't even have the 3 vital survival necessities on the supply list; Benadryl, Boudreaux's Butt Paste, and Anti Monkey Butt! Really what the heck did he need to sit and stare at a pile of sporting goods for?
Jackson had been very insistent that he didn't have anything to do with all this elk expedition nonsense. At least I've got him on my side with not displaying any of the trophys from this trip in the middle of the living room.
After my earlier post sharing what I considered "survival necessities" the amazing men I work with came to the rescue in full force! They educated me about all the other things I needed to make sure hubs had packed and where to go find it if he didn't. I'm happy to report he had everything on their list except for swimmers ear and motion sickness patches.
Please pray for all 6 guys to come home safe and healthy after this expedition.
XOXO
The Mr. & Amanda
10-19-17 update from the mister:
For the record I had most of all that stuff already.. second everything was stored properly and had a home (not thrown all around the house), and third the chair was open to dry. I cleaned the cooler and the chair because they we stored in the shed and had spiders webs on it..
