Our Little House Update

Our Little House Update

I’ve been asked by quite a few people to do a before and “after” update on our house. I’m constantly doing something and a lot of times I forget to update y’all (I know I need to step up my game). So instead of before and “after” I’ve decided to share the original pictures from the listing that we purchased (or the oldest picture of the space I could find) with a comparable shot from the identical angle today.

Kitchen Canisters

Kitchen Canisters

One of our wedding gifts was these amazing hammered copper kitchen canisters. I absolutely love how they look out on the open shelf but I didn't exactly think them through. There isn't any visual slot to see what is inside and the side effects of a past brain injury make me EXTREMELY forgetful (to put it nicely). What ends up happening is I forget what is in each canister, I open them up until I find the one I need, all the while making a mess popping open each lid. Or in the event my wonderful in-laws are in town and decide to cook dinner for us, they assume the largest canister is flour and batter all of the chicken with what is actually powdered sugar. Not a good situation any way you look at it.

The Safe Dowry

The Safe Dowry

The safe 'dowry' has become one of those jokes that will never go away. I thought my parents were buying me a big Bowning safe as a house warming present when in reality it was bought for Jojo as a "thanks for proposing to her" reward. I know, I thought dowries were outdated too... I was wrong. So it seems the going rate to get rid of your daughter with a strong personality is a big safe. I'm slightly offended that they don't think I'm worth more than a safe... however we are accepting applications for suitors, I have a younger sister!
