Our Little House Update

I’ve been asked by quite a few people to do a before and “after” update on our house. I’m constantly doing something and a lot of times I forget to update y’all (I know I need to step up my game). So now that we have decided to sell our house (listing here) I suppose I’m done tinkering on this house and can do a proper before and after. I’ve decided to share the original pictures from the listing that we purchased (or the oldest picture of the space I could find) versus a comparable shot from the space today.

No offense to the previous owners, but it just wasn’t our style. We have an odd style. I refer to our style as “industrial farmhouse glam.” As soon as we walked into the house hubs and I had a vision of what it could become and jumped in feet first with paint, tile work, new lighting, updating electrical, built in shelving, pouring concrete to build a grill gazebo and backyard oasis, you name it, we did it. Now our parents and grandparents had a completely different opinion when they first toured the house, they felt it was cold, outdated, you name it but they were happy and supportive of us. I’m a continuous improvement person which makes before and after reveals less dramatic and slightly delayed (alright 4 years in some cases) since I’m never totally done but selling has forced me to call it quits. Looking through the pictures hubs and I are quite pleased with how the house “turned out” and know the next owners will love it just as much as we have. I say “turned out” because I don’t think I would have quit and called it an official after if we were not listing the house, mainly since I know how I am…

As a disclaimer; I didn’t stage these pictures of our house. A lot of people stage each shot they share strategically with specific things showing or not showing. I'm not one of those people. What you see here is exactly what you will see if you surprised us for a visit on Wednesday night. There isn't anything against the people that stage their home pictures, I'm just not going to relocate the utensil bucket and only have 5 pretty perfect silver items in it for a picture. It is unrealistic living and not functional. What you see is what you get, real life how we function everyday.

So without further delay, here is the complete collection of 2015 versus 2019 transformation to our “industrial farmhouse glam” house.
