Well it took longer than planned but the office overhaul is finally finished. The space is better than I imagined. I’m so glad we transformed the never used dining room into a working space that functions for us!
Here are some snapshots of the high points along the way.
First thing to go was the popcorn!
Then it was time to paint. Hubs says I can’t make anything easy but I knew the color I wanted and it didn’t exist so I created it; I’ve named it mushroom and it’s the perfect Smokey Gray you’re dreaming about. As soon as the first brush stroke hit the wall I knew I had finally found the color of my dreams! I’ll save you all the drama and paint samples just show the wonderful guys at Sherwin-Williams this picture with the color code and you will be all set!
I don’t know why but I never noticed how amazing the front window was until I finished staining it. We used Ranch Oak from Sherwin-Williams, it had to be custom mixed too, because I’m difficult like that, so here’s that mix code too.
The corbels for the shelf over the window were scored at Hobby Lobby and completed with 2 boards cut to length from HomeDepot. The baskets used for storage were gathered from every nook in my house; originally from Hobby Lobby or HomeGoods (my standards).
The grand piece in the room is my ScrapBox aka first anniversary (to hold all my paper), Christmas, and birthday gift. For the price I really expected it to actually survive being with me in use for more than a month, it didn’t. Their service department was top notch but actually executing their fix was quite the task. It still isn’t fixed which is super disappointing. We are now in the process of taking it apart and waiting for replacement parts. We shall see if it ever gets fixed and then survives life with Amanda more than 30 days with their fix. I’ll let you know my final verdict on ScrapBox being worth the money or not.
I wanted a counter height desk so I could sit or stand and look outside while working. We got 2 basic cheap prebuilt cabinets from HomeDepot and then connected the span for the countertop.
Then it was time to stain; color for shelf above it and the countertop is fruitwood from Sherwin-Williams.
Jackson really likes his supervision spot under the desk.
Hubs found the most perfect stools to complete the desk.
I wanted the space to be a cozy hangout. I envisioned hubs sitting and talking to me while I painted. So I made sure there was a comfortable spot for him to relax. Of course Jackson likes that spot too even though he wasn’t invited up.
Finally it was time to hang the last touches on the walls.
And done! Thank you Sixx9 Media for these!
The space doesn’t fit all of my equipment but it’s good enough for when I’m just piddling. It’s also got enough empty space in the middle that I can move things into the room when it is time for major production assembly. It is perfect for now and I love it. Best hubs ever for helping make it a reality!
XOXO
