Kitchen Canisters

Wow! It has been a while since we shared anything! I've been fighting seasonal allergies hardcore since the wedding and we went out of town for our honeymoon. Hopefully I can stay well for more than a 4 day span and write wedding thank you cards soon!

One of our wedding gifts was these amazing hammered copper kitchen canisters. I absolutely love how they look out on the open shelf but I didn't exactly think them through. There isn't any visual slot to see what is inside and the side effects of a past brain injury make me EXTREMELY forgetful (to put it nicely). What ends up happening is I forget what is in each canister, I open them up until I find the one I need, all the while making a mess popping open each lid. Or in the event my wonderful in-laws are in town and decide to cook dinner for us, they assume the largest canister is flour and batter all of the chicken with what is actually powdered sugar. Not a good situation any way you look at it.

For the past few months I've been trying different things as a solution. Nothing wowed me as far as both looks and function so I won't even bore you with the silly things I tried. But I've finally got a solution that I love! I made wooden name tags with the contents and tied them to the top of each canister. They look adorable on the open shelving in our kitchen and have eliminated the mess from me opening all of them constantly!

XOXO
