Disaster hit the Office

Hubs stayed with the boys after work to camp out and duck hunt the next morning. I decided to organize the office and put up Christmas decorations since I had a solid 24 hours without the peanut gallery complaining about any mess I made. Well I made a slight mess... alright fine a made a big huge mess... like Jackson was afraid to walk in the same room mess.

We had so many things going on. The never ending popsicle project was going on in the guest room with my fancy new Ryobi hot glue gun (excellent product from what I've done so far I'll keep you posted). Christmas decorations were pulled out and going up both inside and outside. And as if that wasn't enough multi-tasking, I decided to clean out and reorganize the office. I'm not going to lie, the house turned into a safety evacuation zone. Somewhere around 2am I realized that hubs was going to be SSOOOOO MAD with the mess when he got home so I started trying to do damage control while flipping back and forwth with the freshly charged battery for my hot glue gun. Jackson finally felt safe enough to walk through the house (he was Refusing to leave his kennel) so I figured the mess had been tamed enough to keep hubs from twitching. I WAS WRONG!

He was so angry that hurricane Amanda had come through and turned the house upside down. In hindsight, maybe it was a bad time for me to say I didn't finish totally putting everything back because I had FINALLY decided on a paint color (this debate has been going on for over a year) and wanted to paint the office and stain the window frame first! But still he should have been glad I committed to a color! After he took a nap and I brought him cinnamon rolls to the bed he perked up and agreed on painting the office now while I had it sort of bare.

I have hated the popcorn ceiling since the day we first looked at the house. I wanted it gone before we ever moved a single item into the house, I lost that battle. Then I wanted it gone before the wedding (thinking the fact that his family was coming into town would be a good push), I lost that battle too. I've come to terms with me having to remove the popcorn by myself and have the mess cleaned up before hubs gets home so I wasn't even going to push the popcorn subject after he agreed on painting.

Have I mentioned he's an over-achiever and I LOVE IT!?! Well the holidays are a magical time of year and something extreamly magical happened. I came home to hubs taking down the popcorn ceiling in the office!!! I'm thrilled but it's definitely a case of him not listening to me about how I was able to remove the popcorn in other parts of our house AND have it cleaned up to perfection before he returned home from whatever hunting/fishing expedition was going on that day.  He made the biggest mess!!! Like way worse than my Christmas/crafting/organizing mess! Really what's the point of me establishing the best practice and process he isn't going to listen?!

After seeing the new paint colors my mom and sister picked out I started second guessing my color selection. Hubs is color blind so his opinion doesn't really count, he things everything looks good together since it's all in the same color family! 8 more cans of sample paint later on the walls throughout our house I had to cave and say that the first color hubs said he liked and was going to be my favorite was in fact my favorite and the winner. Y'all it completely sucks having to tell your color blind husband that he knows what COLOR PAINT you will like more than you do.

Home Depot and Sherwin Williams have complete taken over my paycheck and daily activities. I did manage to squeeze in a few races and jumping on haybails with my cousin and his kids on Thanksgiving. It was WONDERFUL being able to play like we used to and show his kids some fun that didn't involve a power cord!

The Christmas decorations are still in process but this is what we have so far. There's still a couple things that I want to do but we have a tree, sacks organized with presents, and wreaths on the front door. Main items complete so it's a win for now.

Why haven't any of you pointed out that awful old doorbell?!? I added this picture and now that's all I can see!

Popcorn is down. Window is sort of stained, it needs another coat and sealed, painters tape is up, holes are filled it, and all paint colors are in the garage. It's time for some serious painting so we can show you the after! Good bye for now, we have work to do! (Completed Office Overhaul)

XOXO
