I've always marched to my own tune. I like what I like regardless of trends or popularity. It doesn't really matter to me if I'm in London for the first ever Harry Potter midnight premier and EVERYONE wanted to go and call back to the states; I don't want to watch it, so I'm not going watch it just to say I was there (yes that's a true story that my sister recently reminded me about).
Back in the winter of 2006 I was in an accident and watched a ton of television on the long never ending road to the new normal. During the beginning of this elongated television binge session Rachel Zoe was brought to my attention. She was not super popular at the time but more or less this up and coming celebrity stylist who had just styled Britney Spears (she's from the woods area that I grew up; small town Louisiana made it big). After stalking the internet and reading everything about her I was hooked. I took great joy and excitement in pointing out who she was when watching "Americas Next Top Model" and "Gossip Girl" to the bricks in my dorm room. I bought her book the day it was released in 2007 and read it multiple times like it was a textbook or manual that needed to be learned. Over the years I've stayed loyal to Rachel as the bandwagon grew and grew. I'm happy to say I'm one of the original subscribers to The Zoe Report and every single Box of Style.
I LOVE my Box of Style. It's my one selfish splurge. Everything is always top notch. There is only one item I've ever received that hasn't been used. I need help pulling off that color block shawl thing from last winter, I'm sorry Tim Gunn I just can't make it work despite endless tries. Not everything looks fabulous on me, which makes my sister very happy because it always looks great on her so she gets presents. There was this flowy sheer swimsuit cover up in the 2016 summer box, the girls in the pamphlet in the box looked so cute but it looked awful on me. Then Meg put it on and she looked like the model in the pamphlet! The same thing happened with the sunglasses in that box. I'm sensing a pattern here... maybe she tells me it doesn't look good on me so she gets it or maybe I'm just a sucker for my baby sister. Whatever, bottom line is I always end up studying the pamphlet (and keep it for reference material), loving the goodies and it becomes a standard part of my style or beauty routine. In total honest, I also hoard the boxes, like the actual black boxes the products are delivered in (now that I think about it I should do a post on all the ways I've repurposed them). I like the pretty gold tissue paper so much from this box that I've got it stashed out of hubs sight for a future craft project (he says I hoard and has a habit of throwing things out when I'm not looking).
After being out of town with hubs family for the holidays I came home to find my winter Box of Style. I was too exhausted to study the pamphlet and goodies so I waited a day to open it up. So here I am today finally seeing the contents! There's just one problem, MY BOX DOES NOT HAVE A PAMPHLET! Rachel help! I don't know all the little tips tricks and suggestions for each goodie!
These 2 beauties I can put to use right now without directions. These earrings by House of Harlow are giving me major Great Gasby vibes. While I'm too forgetful to use a written planner anymore (I need the endless auto reminders), this gorgeousness by sugar paper is too pretty not to use so I've decided to use it as a daily grateful journal to fill with happy joyful moments from each day.
Rachel, if you are reading this I would really like a pamphlet for this box and some more assistance with that color block shawl thing. If you're board and up for a challenge CALL ME! I'm totally open to your help with making my work attire better, steel toe/ metatarsal boots are not made for women and make EVERYTHING look absolutely terrible. #GirlEngineerProblems
