For Christmas last year I signed us up for DateBox, a monthly subscription that delivers a ready to go date in a box. I thought it would be a fun addition to our regular date night. I was wrong. It was definitely NOT worth the money.
Ask and you shall receive! So I asked about where to BUY one of the old McKenzie’s Black Out cakes and you lovely followers out did yourselves and got me the original recipe! This weekend Mom and I attempted to follow the very extensive (often confusing) instructions. Below is the recipe with what we would change for next time, if there is a next time. And because my industrial engineer brain had to be an overachiever I’ve cleaned up the wording+formatting so it’s easier to follow.
Y’all know that Monday’s are crockpot meals at our house (read here to find out why). This weekend hubs started with a sore throat and went down quick. I made Steak Soup last night and it was awesome! It is a rich and hearty complete meal that won’t leave you hungry. I wasn’t going to share the recipe with you because there are so many variations online. But it was even better reheated for lunch so I figured it was worth writing down my concoction so at least I can repeat it!
If you have ever ventured into the bakery section of Whole Foods and wondered why they have little plastic boxes of granola it is because they bake it fresh and it is delicious. All 4 of the flavors are delicious. I eat it like candy. Downside, it is expensive and I'm cheap, like super cheap. So in my annual August attempt to clean out the pantry and freezers I noticed that I had a jar of coconut oil and a brand new can of Quaker Oats. I instantly thought about the Whole Foods granola I had been craving lately and decided it couldn't be that difficult to make it myself.
It has been longer than I would like since I got picture back from someones wedding so I'm bouncing off the walls with these beauties. I heard from Caitlin today with the sweetest message.
The football was a huge hit!! We haven’t received the photos from our photographer yet but here are some from our friend who was at the wedding. I’ll make sure to write a review once I check if we have better pictures! Thank you again for helping us make our wedding so special!
I’m not an expert at life or anything. I’m just running around with no clue figuring it out on the fly. But I’ll let you in on a secret that helps me beat Mondayitus and stay in the right frame of mind all week; crockpot meal Monday’s. I know what you’re thinking, how does a crockpot meal one night change your whole week?! Well let me tell you.
