Motor City

We took a trip out to Detroit to visit hubs cousins over Labor Day weekend. We had a great time! Too good of a time actually because when I sat down to write this I realized how few pictures we took in all the excitement! Here is a glimpse at some of the weekend.

Jackson was very concerned with where his food was going until he realized he was getting to go spend the weekend with the grandparents. We call it the “spa” because every time he stays there he has so much fun following grandparents rules, which we all know are nonexistent. Good times for Jackson.

We flew out late Thursday after work so we were counting on the Delta Sky Club for dinner. They came in clutch with mini muffalattas and my new favorite drink “lady di” by Thomas!

A lady named Diana is a frequent flyer and as soon as Thomas (the bartender) spotted her he started making a custom drink for her. We were sitting at the bar so I got a first hand view and taste. Y’all it’s dangerously good! I asked him to make me one and was granted permission to share this delicious concoction with all of you.

Lady Di by Thomas

*whatever you’re using to measure works just be consistent throughout since I wrote it down as part ratios

  • 3 vodka
  • 1 orange liquor
  • 1 lime drink mix
  • 1 orange juice
  • 1 apple juice
  • 1 pineapple juice
  • splash of cranberry juice

After getting my belly full on mini muffalattas and drinkie poos with Thomas I was ready to take a nice nap on the flight. What the heck am I dorking out wearing on my head? It’s my Slip sleep mask, I’m a major fan. A few years ago it was my standard gift to all the big girls on my Christmas  list. It’s AAAHHHHHMAZING! I don’t sleep without it, actually I do but that’s when hubs steals it which is a whole other situation. (The pillow cases didn’t hold up a full 10 months but the mask I highly reccomend.)

We landed after dark and gathered around the fire pit visiting and laughing until late in the night.

When we finally made it to bed I realized my hosting overnight guest skills are seriously lacking! They had the room fixed so cute complete with towels folded on the bed, mints on the pillow, and water on the side table. Let’s not forget the flamingo drink holder for the pool party planned during our stay.

Football and pizza filled in all our downtime. Jojo and Bella got along great especially during nap time.

We went down to The Henry Ford museum. Man is that place big!  The detail in facility is incredible and it was beyond inspiring to see all the past engineering feats! Maybe one day I’ll have a contribution in there... a girl can dream.

Hubs really got into the whole flamingo theme at the pool party.

Our last day was spent helping hang some shelves, kids and adults playing football and cornhole in the backyard, and eating spaghetti.

The kids sent us home with some special drawings. The one on the left is me in my wedding dress. I’m quite impressed at the level of resemblance.

It was a great long weekend! I wish it was a more regular occurance!!!

XOXO

The Mr. & Amanda
