Frogs

A few weeks back hubs and a couple friends went frogging. For the non-country bumpkins reading this, frogging is done at night and you basically scare the frog with a spot light so he doesn’t move and then catch him with your hands. I requested that my portion of the frogs caught be brought home and added to the lake ecosystem behind our house rather than cooked; frog tadpoles eat mosquito larva and thus less mosquitos eating me while I sit outside in the evenings.

This past weekend we were sitting outside enjoying the mosquito reduced outdoors after finishing some yard work when hubs was on the phone with a friend. Apparently one of the hole in the wall bars nearby was hosting a frogging tournament. What does one wear for a frogging tournament? Rubber boots!  So we went as we were for the festivities. What kind of festivities go along with frogging? Plenty of beer, fried food, and of course a frog race. The host bar for this events concluding ceremony was the Gators Den, one of the cleaner and better decorated bathrooms along the river/lake bar strip. Their fried food options are top notch and proved to be clutch Saturday night. Hubs was pretty disappointed that he didn’t know about this frogging tournament earlier so he could participate, especially since there is a very official trophy and everything for the winner. Don’t worry, he has already added it to his calendar for next year!

Oh and we learned that the Gators Den does steak night on Thursdays! We shall check it out and let you know how it goes. Any takers on joining us?

XOXO
